YOU TELL…

SHORT

SECOND SHORT FILM SERIES – SUNDAY, MARCH 31 – 8:00 AM – 19 MIN – ALL AUDIENCES

Presentation by and discussion with French screenwriter and producer Robert Boublil, music composer Boris Boubil and producer Geeske Boublil

You, tell . . .  is a triptych. Three stories about death and resurrection. Three stories of children whose lives were devastated by their Nazi tormentors and their accomplices.

First, the piece opens showcasing a morning in the life of Abraham, the soliloquy of a man who has survived the Nazi death camps. Invited, sixty years later, to talk about his experience, he does not want, he cannot tell what he has seen, what he has lived through. Nobody would believe him…

Then we hear the voice of ten year-old Jeanne who recounts the story of Rachel, another young girl who escaped twice from the infamous Vichy police before being persecuted by a French family. Suddenly, something appears in her life, which revives her desire to live and offers the young girl a way to connect with her lost father.

Last, it is the story of five years old Maurice, who died in his mother’s arms in the train taking them to Auschwitz. Back for a while among the living, Maurice asks another young boy to tell his story, because himself can no longer do so.

Based on Robert Boublil’s poems The Accordion, We Won’t Talk About It and You, Tell My Story.
